Beyond Keith engaging to support our founder retreats and forums in the Techstars Workforce program, I personally engaged with Keith as a coach. Keith offers many valuable attributes to me as an MD / investor / builder / entrepreneur. I was initially skeptical of a lot of the “conscious leadership” concepts, believing them to be conspicuous attempts by non-business people to make business people less business-minded.
Keith taught me the difference between facts and stories, enabling me to identify the above mentioned bias as a ridiculous story, not an actual fact. He also taught me how to use unarguable speech, a powerful communication tool I use regularly in my personal and professional life to help make hard conversations easier.

Keith is our (not so) secret weapon.
With Keith we’ve handled divorces, founder breakups, co-founder departures, executive departures, self-harm early warnings and intervention, and other less dramatic cases that still result in success. Not only do I think Keith’s interventions are valuable to our founders, they have been indispensable with my own team as we learned how to best work with each other and also, for myself as MD, how to work better with my managers and colleagues.

Coaching with Keith completely changed my experience as an employee, my working relationship with my boss, and my day to day mental state. The first year of any new role is challenging, but being thrown into my first year program PM role after applications had opened was one of the most challenging professional experiences I have had. I was struggling with feeling like I was not meeting expectations; I did not feel proud of myself; I was overwhelmed (or “below the line” as Keith would say).
In 4 sessions with Keith, he completely changed my internal experience and my working relationships. The folks that came to the retreat are being more open to the Techstars experience and are really leaning in. It seems like they are getting much more from the program and are taking advantage of all the incredible people that come through. The retreat also helped the program team hit the ground running on day 1 since we had already built a ton of trust with the founders. It's pretty obvious who attended the retreat vs. those that didn't.
Going forward, I will likely make that a requirement of participation in my programs.
